Piper PA-38 Tomahawk Interior Refresh: A New Look for a Classic Trainer

For this project, we had the pleasure of working on a Piper PA-38 Tomahawk for an aeroclub, performing a complete interior refresh. From seat cushions to control yokes, every detail was carefully designed to provide a fresh and modern feel while maintaining the aircraft’s classic charm.
Interior Details: Lead Grey Leather and Durable Materials
The Piper PA-38 Tomahawk is known for its simplicity and efficiency, and we enhanced these qualities by refurbishing the interior with durable, premium materials that provide both comfort and style.
Seat Upholstery
The Tomahawk’s two seats were given a complete overhaul, including new cushions made from Genlite foam, known for its long-lasting durability and comfort. The seat covers were crafted from lead grey leather, chosen for its resilience and sleek look. Design features include:

Double stitching along the outside seams, providing a clean, professional finish.

Horizontal seams on both the seat back and base, ensuring a balanced and visually appealing design.

Large pockets on the seat backs, adding both convenience and style.
Control Yokes
The control yokes were carefully wrapped in black leather, with each grip hand-stitched when wet to ensure a snug and durable fit. The control wheel pad was also wrapped in matching leather and is removable, adding functionality and versatility to the design.
A Comfortable, Refined Interior for the Piper PA-38 Tomahawk
With this refresh, the Piper PA-38 Tomahawk now boasts a more polished and comfortable interior. The combination of lead grey leather, Genlite foam cushions, and carefully crafted control yoke covers makes this aircraft not only look better but feel better too.
Every seat, cushion, and control element was designed with the user’s comfort in mind while keeping the aircraft’s overall function intact. The interior is now more durable, stylish, and ready to withstand the daily demands of an active aeroclub.
