PA-38 Piper Tomahawk – Full Cabin Upholstery
The Project
For this project, Generation Global supplied a complete interior upholstery package for a PA-38 Piper Tomahawk, a compact two-seater aircraft designed for training and general aviation use. This refurbishment included a full strip-down, repaint, and re-cover of the aircraft’s seating. All components used are available for purchase on Generation Global’s online shop.
Gallery – Seat Restoration Process
The Piper Tomahawk’s seats are purpose-built for functionality and simplicity, with a frame-forward design that keeps structural elements visible by design. Our process included:
-
Frame Preparation
-
Each seat was fully stripped back to its bare frame.
-
The exposed metal was thoroughly cleaned and repainted, paying special attention to all visible areas to ensure a clean, professional finish.
-
-
Assembly & Upholstery
-
Once repainted, we installed new diaphragms, which were glued in place to provide a firm base.
-
Shaped seat foam was then attached, ensuring ergonomic comfort before the covers were fitted.
-
Finally, the seats were reassembled with Lead Grey aviation-grade leather (ADI-1111).
-
-
Design Features
-
While the leather covers featured no quilting or perforation, the use of orange decorative stitching added a subtle contrast and modern aesthetic.
-
A Piper logo, embossed in the center of each seat back, provided a final touch of authenticity and visual appeal.
