THE PROJECT
The R44 is a popular, light utility helicopter that’s been manufactured by the Robinson Helicopter Company since the early 90s. Still in production today, over 6,000 of these aircraft have been built. For this project, we did a complete interior refresh on a client’s R44 - we supplied everything from seating, carpets, headlining, and door inserts to control boots. These parts are all available on Generation Global’s website, both as individual products and as complete sets (all three sets - the blue, light grey, and charcoal - are available for quick-shipping).

We styled this helicopter's interior with Rye Beige leather (ADI-4221) and a matching Beige headlining (HL-102). All the seating in this R44 was of a Generation II style and sported traditional Robinson pleating.
The Rye Beige leather seats were outfitted with matching stitching, and each seatback was embossed with the R44’s legendary logo. The covers came with new foam cushioning, too. Our client was able to easily install the new seating material onto their composite seat pans - cushions and covers were fastened to frames with metal retainers and hinges.
Keeping everything on theme, for this helicopter’s four door inserts, we also used Rye Beige leather (ADI-4221). And we supplied Beige (HL-102) headlining, which included precisely-measured cut-outs for each handhold.
For this R44s carpeting, we used a darker, more subdued shade of Zimmer carpets (WN-120). The carpet segments had specially-made cutouts for the LH and RH side heaters. Control boots were made from a simple but stylish Black leather (ADI-1091) that complemented the Zimmer carpet. After plenty of careful cutting, measuring, and installation, everything came together beautifully.
