SUMMARY

This project took on the refurbishment of a Piper PA-28-161 aircraft for a New Zealand client. The interior refurbishment included the seating, sidewalls, carpets, glare shield, door draught excluder, and plastic trims. The finished product transformed this aircraft into a modern and smartly presented aircraft.

The seating in the aircraft was stripped back to the frames, to repaint them. New diaphragms were fitted to the frames and new cushions and dress covers were fitted. The dress covers are made from lead grey leather (ADI-1111) and were stitched with samt-beige stitching (0267).

The sidewalls in the aircraft were wrapped in the same lead grey color in a matching microfibre leather (ADI-1116). A double line of stitching runs horizontally down the panel in the samt-beige colored thread. The armrests on the sidewall were refinished with new matching armrest pads on the top. The lower sidewall has a band of zimmer-colored carpet.

The floor coverings in the aircraft were zimmer carpet with an underlay backing. The carpet area beneath the controls is protected with heel mats to reduce wear on the carpet. At the rear of the aircraft is the aft bulkhead panel which was repaired and wrapped in a white vinyl.

The new draught excluder around the aircraft door was made of the same vinyl as the rear bulkhead panel. The glare shield eyebrow was recovered in a UV stabilized black vinyl (ADI-1092) and the instrument panel cowl overcover in a black fabric.
