THE PROJECT

This project involved Generation Global completing a full interior refurbishment of a PA-28-180 Cherokee aircraft. The scope included seat upholstery, plastics, decals, headlining, glare shield, sidewall linings, air vents, floor coverings, and draft excluders. The aircraft was flown to Generation Global’s Nelson facility for the removal and re-installation. PA-28 parts are available for purchase on the Generation Global Online shop.

The seat dress covers were manufactured in charcoal (ADI-1121) aviation leather with the red highlight stitching, perforated inserts, and embroidered Piper logos. While the seats were stripped, the frames were refurbished with a fresh coat of paint, new diaphragms, and new high comfort seat cushions fitted.

The lower sidewall linings were manufactured with a ‘Zimmer’ (WN-120) carpet bottom kick section, upper upholstery section in charcoal leather (ADI 1121), perforated inserts, and red stitch lines to match the seats. The floor coverings were also manufactured from ‘Zimmer’ carpet which is a charcoal cut pile carpet and new alloy foot mats were fitted on the high wear areas around the controls.

The headlining is a suspended design and was manufactured in a light grey (HL-100) brushed fabric material. The plastic paneling was painted in a matching light grey (titanium) colour. The glare shield was wrapped in a ‘Matt black’ vinyl to match the dash face and controls.
