THE PROJECT
Crash-tested seating is an important part of any modern aircraft’s safety, but it can make things very complicated for seat upholstery. For this project, the Generation Global team supplied new crew seat dress covers on an MD 902 helicopter that fit the OEM crash-tested cushions, meaning the seat's safety rating is maintained. The seat dress covers came as a kit, and no customization was needed, so installation was a breeze. The parts for this project are available on our website online shop.

This MD 902 helicopter has two slung crew seats. The seat base conveniently attaches to a base plate using velcro straps, while the seats’ back covers are securely velcroed onto the frame. Headrests are supplied along with the seat dress cover kit - these are also velcroed around the frame. The entire set can easily and quickly be removed and replaced, which made our jobs easy
The seat covers used were primarily dressed with a subdued, Portland grey leather (JLS322). A darker, Ancient Grey leather (ADI-1151) was used for the inserts. Each seat’s edge stitching matched the Portland grey leather, helping create a sharp, consistent overall look. All parts were backed with fire-resistant nylon, and velcro pieces were stitched directly into the canvas for extra durability. After the seat installation was done, this MD 902’s interior looked much improved.
Newly outfitted and ready to go! It was a pleasure to help out with the seat replacement of this aircraft, and we look forward to helping you with your next project.
