THE PROJECT
Long-haul, international routes involve a lot of seat time, to the tune of twelve or more hours on some routes. Unfortunately, the stock, factory seats, and covers are frankly not entirely built for that prolonged wear-and-tear, nor are they the supplest materials to settle into for extended flying. Generation Global tackles this demanding environment with certified seat covers for this Israeli-based fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners. Our kits include the Captain/First Officer backrest, Captain seat pan, and First Officer seat pan, which are all provided with EASA certification and documentation so you can rest assured they meet the most stringent standards. The Generation Global online shop provided all of the parts for this project.

Premium materials are used in the design and construction of our seat covers. They are designed with the end-user in mind, understanding how much time the cabin crew spends on them. The front faces of the bottom and backrest covers are made from New Zealand sheepskin (Oxford Grey), and the side borders are made from wool fabric manufactured in New Zealand. Our seat covers mirror each other, with the only difference being the location of the pockets (left for Captain, right for FO).
The approximate lifespan of a certified seat cover is three years, and they will see a lot of wear and tear over their lifespan. Cabin crew seats are high-wear items because of the long hours spent in them and because the cockpit is cramped; they are rubbed and brushed by, map bags, legs, flashlights, and the seats end up being used as hand-holds and are stepped on to get into flight position. It’s a rough business being a seat cover. However, we have found that pilots love new, supple sheepskin covers; happy pilots are safer pilots. Our goal is to make those long hours pass more quickly and keep the crew sharp and thinking about their job, rather than how uncomfortable their seats are. Keeping the seat covers new and fresh is a low-cost way to look after your most critical asset: your people.
