THE PROJECT
Manufactured in Australia, the Gippsaero GA8 is an eight-seater aircraft designed to provide passenger, freight, and reconnaissance services in remote regions. Because of its rugged, utilitarian overall design, this aircraft has a very simple interior. For this project, though, Generation Global worked closely with Gippsaero and its parent company, Mahindra Aerospace, to develop and install a more plush interior design for our client’s GA8. All the parts used for this project can be found on Generation Global’s website.

The GA8’s seat design is a simple one - seats are supported by basic metal frames that are riveted together. Those frames are then anchored to the floor through large cutouts in the flooring. These seats were not built to maximize comfort. Rather, they’re supposed to be quick and easy to install and remove.
For our client’s seat covers, we used primarily Lead Grey leather (ADI-1111), though this was complemented by SP-1 perforated Titanium Grey leather (ADI-1231) inserts in each seat base and back. Each insert featured clean horizontal stitch lines, which were stitched with a thread that matched the hue of the titanium grey leather. Each seat also sports a vertical seam on its base. For the seat backs, we added pockets for added convenience and also embroidered text that the client had requested. Finally, we made sure each seat had a perfectly-measured cutout for the outer seatbelt.
We outfitted this GA8 with two distinct flooring sets: one carpet and one vinyl. This plane’s flooring is sectioned off into three main cabin pieces, and precise cutouts were needed at all of the anchor points. For the carpet pieces, we used Zimmer carpet with black binding, and for the vinyl pieces, we used Moonwalk in Graphite with matching colored binding. Everything came together quite sharply.
