THE PROJECT

This project included Generation Global supplying Crew and Pax seat dress covers, glare shield cover and a flooring set for a GA8 Airvan interior. These parts are manufactured under a NZCAA STC design approval. These parts are also available online on Generation Global’s website.

GALLERY

The GA8 interior consists of two crew seats and six passenger seats. The dress covers were manufactured in Charcoal Grey (ADI-1121) aviation leather. The design is very plain with the only feature being the centre inserts using perforated leather. All decorative stitching was also matched to the leather colour.

The glare shield was covered in a UV protected black synthetic leather. The floor coverings were manufactured from a nylon cut pile Charcoal (Zimmer) carpet which matches well with the charcoal grey seating. The carpets have circular cut-outs for the seat mounts and are attached with velcro to the cabin floor.

THE CLIENT

The client is a tourism operator based in the coastal town of Kaikoura on New Zealand's South Island. The region is home to a large population of sperm whales, which are the star attraction for the region. Each day, many tour boats and aircraft operators take fare paying passengers out to the Kaikoura underwater canyon to view these wonderful creatures as they surface. Within a few hundred meters of the shoreline, the sea floor plunges to depths of more than 2000 metres providing the unique position where the whales come so close to shore. The client operates flights from the nearby Kaikoura airfield using their two GA-8 aircraft which are ideal for sightseeing due to their large dome windows.
