THE PROJECT

The EC120 - sometimes called the “Hummingbird” - is a small, nimble utility helicopter that was produced from the mid-1990s through the mid-2010's. For this project, Generation Global provided the fittings for an EC120’s crew and rear seating. All parts were supplied with CASA Certification, which was validated from EASA certification documentation. If you’re looking to complete a similar project, we offer a full range of other EC120 parts on the Generation Global online shop.

The seat base and back cushions were crafted to provide optimum support while still seamlessly complementing the original seat design. The foam used was both light and resilient - it’s specially contoured to support the seat cover, which is held in place with velcro inserts. The cover itself, rather than having many small holes permeating its front surface, has a few larger holes cut in its back; it follows what’s known as an “energy-absorbing seat” design.

We used a dark, Lead Grey leather (ADI-1111) for the seat covers, providing a subdued and professional look. Each cover sported an embossed Airbus logo, and a handsome Double Diamond quilting (SA005) was used on the seatbacks and seat inserts. Dark blue stitching was used on the lead grey leather, which provided a bit of extra contrast.

THE CLIENT

Our client for this project was a helicopter operator based in Brisbane, Australia. They offer regional charter services and commercial operation services as well as sightseeing tours along the Gold Coast. Their fleet includes both EC120's and EC130's - we were happy to have the opportunity to help them out with this interior project, and we look forward to more work with them in the future.
