THE PROJECT

For this project, our team completed a floor-to-ceiling refurbishment of a Cessna 182R interior. We worked on sidewalls, carpets, and headlining, as well as seat covers and cushions. Replacement parts and furnishings for the Cessna model 182R are not currently listed on Generation Global’s website, but we expect to add them soon.

We began by outfitting the cabin with new fabric headling and new carpet floor coverings. All plastics were repaired and wrapped in grey vinyl (Arctic), and all exposed plastic parts were painted to match. The headliner consists of a plastic-molded headlining which is then wrapped in fabric. That fabric was light grey (HL-100) in color and sported precise cutouts for the overhead console. For this aircraft’s floor coverings, we installed Zimmer carpet (WN-120) (our most popular carpet type), which had black binding along its edges.

We fitted this aircraft with interior sidewall pre-made trim panels. Those panels consisted of a bottom section made with Zimmer carpet and a top section made with Athena vinyl (110) and a lead grey leather (ADI-1121) accent along the horizontal insert. Each handle and all four armrests were wrapped in lead grey leather (ADI-1121).

There was plenty of other small-parts and tidying-up work to do after these larger pieces had been installed. Our team painted the instrument panel and console plastics and applied brand-new placards. The control yoke bosses were wrapped in black leather, with each piece sporting a large, handsome Cessna badge on its front.

Finally, we moved to the seats. The seating in this aircraft includes two single seats and a rear bench seat. We began by repainting each seat frame with matte black paint. Those frames were then slung with new diaphragms and seat cushions. Seat covers were made with lead grey leather (ADI-1121) and gorgeous patterned inserts. Each insert featured sharp silver stitching and a four-line quilting pattern (SA-019). The double stitching along each outer seam was done with the same silver thread. And to finish things off, each single-seat backrest was embossed with the Cessna logo.
