THE PROJECT
Commonly used for flight training, the Cessna 152 aerobat was a special release of the Cessna 150 model by Cessna, having undergone re-engineering to give it aerobatic capabilities. The design was unique with its own checkerboard paint scheme and modified parts in every area to ensure the safety of the pilot such as the quick release doors and extended visibility skylights. We were thrilled to help with an overhaul of the interior seating back to the original look and feel. The custom-designed aerobat seats, along with other interior parts for both Cessna 150s and 152s, are available on Generation Global’s website.

The seats in this Aerobat were looking worse for wear - their foam was compressed and their checkerboard pattern had faded. So we got to work…
We did a complete replacement and reinstallation of the foam, diaphragms, and covers for each of these seats. Staying true to the original checkerboard pattern, we used Royal Blue (ADI-2031) and White (JLS391) leather. Seat covers were double-stitched along their outlines and seat faces for added durability. The extra effort on the pattern was well worth it - everything came together beautifully.
In addition to the seat restorations, we also wrapped some of the cabin’s plastic paneling in matching vinyl, added new control yoke grips, and installed a new glare shield.
THE CLIENT
This project was done for a maintenance organisation on behalf of a non-for-profit flight school that trains young pilots. The organistation has been operating since 1967, and every summer they host a two-week camp at their rural aerodrome. Each year, 74 students with an interest in aviation learn piloting and general life skills under the tutelage of volunteer aviation professionals. Students who get to train in this Cessna 152 will be flying in style.
