THE PROJECT
This project included Generation Global supplying and fitting replacement crew seat covers for a AW139 helicopter. This included supplying a one-piece seat cover, armrest covers and a removable headrest cover. These parts are EASA certified through a EASA Part 21J minor change approval. GALLERY
The seat coverings were manufactured from high quality Scottish leather (Grey SF078). The seat cover centre inserts were perforated with HP1 perforation pattern which gives breathability to the leather in the centre of the backrest and bottom covers. This is essential for pilots when flying for extended periods of time. The stitching is matched with the grey leather. The seat cover is fitted as a one-piece cover with the seatbelts feeding through slots in the seat back. The seat back has a back shell cover to hide the mechanisms in the rear of the seat and attached to the frame. The armrests can fold up and tuck away into the frame when not in use.
THE CLIENT
The client for this project is an international helicopter operator providing services predominantly to the oil and gas industry. These services include the ferrying of staff and supplies to and from the offshore rigs. For this work, the company operates a fleet of 162 helicopters to service the oil and gas sector and a further 88 in medical and air ambulance. The company and its subsidiaries have had a strong working relationship with Generation Global over many years.
