OUR COMPANY
Generation Global is an ever-evolving company where change is the only constant. In this article we share some recent updates including the recent additional foam conversion plant in Malaysia, our production approvals, how staff have been retained over the Covid period and insights into Generation Global’s vast range of patterns for airline and helicopter interiors.
FOAM PLANT
During 2020 Generation Global added a second foam conversion line to its Malaysian production facility and the production line is now fully up to speed. A number of new staff have been undergoing training in the skills of foam conversion and seat cushion fabrication to grow this capacity within the company. Foam stock is brought in from the USA, Australia, and the UK in large buns and is converted into aircraft seat cushions at the Malaysian facility. Generation Global stock a range of different densities of foam including flotation type foams which are used in cushions with buoyancy requirements to meet TSO C72.
AUDITS
Generation Global holds two production certificates currently. One is a EASA Part 21G Production Authorisation Approval and the other is a NZCAA Part 148 Manufacturing Organisation Certificate. Even though both certificates have very similar requirements, they both run under completely separate expositions. Both require separate audits annually by the two different authorities as well as separate internal audits semi-annual. In April EASA conducted its annual audit which was carried out virtually due to the current global circumstances.
PRODUCTION CAPACITY
Generation Global is pleased to have been able to retain all its staff throughout the Covid-19 crisis. With parallel production lines in New Zealand and Malaysia, workload and staffing are able to be moved from one facility to the other to balance out demands. Staff enjoy secure employment with most staff having worked with the company for many years.
PATTERNING
Generation Global has thousands of different aircraft and helicopter interior part designs on file, meaning that we are able to support most aircraft, helicopter, and seat types used globally. Patterns are stored both physically and digitally. Generation Global has a full-time R&D team that is creating designs for new products and creating accurate readable patterns for production.
